Beta 3 of NMS 5.0 and UMP 2.0 available for download

Discussion created by erlend.flaa on Nov 2, 2010

We are happy to announce that NMS 5.0 beta 3 and UMP 2.0 beta 3 are available for download from our web archive.

In addition to supporting the Microsoft Windows, Linux and Solaris operating systems and using MS SQL Server 2005/2008 and MySQL 5.1 databases to host the NIS database, the Beta 3 also introduce support for hosting the NIS database on Oracle 11g R1 database servers. See the information published on the download page for more information.

Beta 3 also introduces our new multi-platform installation routines for Linux and Solaris.

Please note that upgrading from Beta 1 or Beta 2 is not supported. I.e. the previous beta installation and database should be deleted starting fresh with Beta 3. On the Windows platform it is possible to upgrade from NMS 4.3x, however, the upgrade process will have to be repeated when later deploying the upcoming GA release. Migration of existing database from MS SQL Server to MySQL or Oracle is not supported.

We encourage our customers to download and test this beta release as soon as possible. We do appreciate very much all the help you can give us in bringing this new server release to the quality level required for going GA. Please report any issues identified to our support team using standard channels, stating clearly that the issues are related to the beta testing program.
