How to monitor timestamps with SNMP

I have a couple devices that I monitor via SNMP, and one of the points that I need to monitor is a string formatted timestamp (unfortunately not epoch time) - this is the format I'm working with: "2015-09-11 12:51:11".  I need a way to test whether the time is within a specific number of hours of the current time.  I have explored both the snmpget probe as well as the snmptoolkit, but cannot seem to find a way to monitor this.  I believe I will need a way to convert the string to an epoch time - and I'm sure I can figure out a formula to do so, but I don't know any probe that will let me do that complex of a conversion and formula.  Has anyone had to do anything similar?  Is there a way to do this?
