We would like to change or D/R solution FROM GDPS/Global Mirroring to GDPS/PPRC Hyper Swap Manager. It is a synchronous disk replication solution.
Our problem is that, due to its architecture, GDPS cannot guarantee full data consistency across all the volumes.
In general, when there is any issue with writing data to remote disk the DS8870 (disk storage) sends a warning message to a monitoring system running on MVS LPAR and the monitoring system will freeze replication on all other volumes. The freeze is done separately for each volume from a consistency group defined on the monitoring system. So there will always be some delay in between the issue on a single volume and freeze of all the other volumes.
It seems that the data consistency could be also maintained on the application (in our case IDMS) level using dependent writes. Does IDMS support this?
