Please tell us how to prevent the approvers from approving the requests in IT Service catalog. Is there any way to disable the Approve button or any other configuration??
When all okay, can you then hit the 'Mark Correct' button?
To 'close' this discussion, so to speak.
Thanks for your understanding and kind regards, Louis.
When you say approvers what is the role defined for this user? Catalog User by default will have the option button for Approve/Reject. Are you trying to set a few users from approving the requests? If you have a role of end user assigned then you would not be able to have the option of approve/ Reject buttons visible in this case.
We want to not have any kind of approve/reject button enabled for any of the requests. This is done to prevent the approvers of those requests from approving the catalog request. there are large number of approvers and most of them are having role as Catalog User.
can you please let us know the steps to have this change (if possible).
Also please let us know if there is any provision of automatic cancellation of all the Catalog Requests which are present in Pending Approval state. we first want to export all these request with all the items in an excel and the cancel these requests.
A quick help is much appreciated
If you want to set the user role to End User follow the below steps (End user role do not provide options to approve/reject a request)
1. Login to Catalog as Administrator (spadmin)
2. Go to Administration tab - Users sub tab
3. Search and select the user to change the role
4. Click on Edit - Click on User Settings (last Link on the page)
5. Remove the old role (Catalog User as mentioned). Select end User form drop down and click Add to change the role of this user.
6. Click OK to save the changes.
There is a way(customization of a .xsl file) to hide/remove the 'Approve/Reject' button from the request page.
My question then is: How/where/when do you then approve a CA Service Catalog request?
Please let me know. Thanks in advance and kind regards, Louis.
we do not want to approve those requests as we don't want their corresponding tickets to be created in CA SD.
please let us know what customization needs to be done in .xsl file. we want to remove the "approve/reject button" completely for any user.
Also we want to export all the Catalog requests present in "Pending approval" state in an excel with all the requests details. kindly assist us in the same.
A quick help will me much appreciated.
Please be careful with the below implementation.
The next and first step is very important. Because it will keep your ootb files in tact. And will only have changes in a controlled custom environment.
You could test with the following to get this accomplished on your environment. 1. Explore to C:\Program Files\CA\Service Catalog\view\webapps\usm\explorer\request 2. Explore to C:\Program Files\CA\Service Catalog\filestore\custom\explorer\request 3. Copy requestprofile.xsl from 1. into 2.
4. Goto C:\Program Files\CA\Service Catalog\filestore\custom\explorer\request 5. Open/Change the above mentioned file according to your wishes:a. Before line 1390 insert a new line with the 'start-comment' line like <!--<!-- Comment-out the next block of code (Lines 1390-1413)b. Then after line 1414, insert the 'end-comment' line like -->6. Save the file(s)
7. Stop the CA Service Catalog service 8a. Goto C:\Program Files\CA\Service Catalog\view\translets folder8b. Empty/Clear this folder content 9. Start the CA Service Catalog service
Another important note:You will be on your own on with this kind of customization. A. The first thing I have to say is that this is not an ootb customization option. B. And the above mentioned way of customization is out of scope of Level 1 Support. C. And will be a non-supported change of your environment. D. Also, after applying any patch, you should consider these files there after. E. A better/best approach then is to open an Idea in the Communities. To possibly get this kind of functionality implemented in a future release through a 'config setting' of some kind.
Please advise. Thanks in advance and kind regards, Louis.
Thanks a Lot Loius!
