I installed the local download for Open Workbench. However, when I go to a project I do not see "Use Open Workbench" as an option in the "Open in Scheduler" drop down. How do I turn that on so PM's can use OWB???
It should be "Workbench [Read-Write]" or another for RO, but you also have to set Scheduler Format for the project to "Workbench".
1. You have to set it for each individual project? It's not a "default option" like MSP or Clarity Gantt?
2. How do you set the Scheduler Format? I don't see where to do that....
Its a regular object attribute on Project so it can default to whichever you want (or set it in the template as we did I believe), but its MSP or OWB per project, one or the other. I'm not sure where it is on the default views as we moved it to a protected sub-page so PM's couldn't accidentally change it.
You set the default scheduler as the default value for the project attribute in Adminstration > Objects > Project > Attributes
For individual projects you have to add the field either to edit project properties view or to the project list view.
I usually make a user configuration of the Project list and make the changes there.
Or you can open the project from OWB.
I changed the default to "Workbench" for the Scheduler in the Project object - but it doesn't seem to have worked. I still only see "MSP" and "Clarity Gantt" as the options in the Open in Scheduler drop down, even in a brand new test project I created (just in case the old default value was "sticky" for existing projects). Am I missing something?
Did you create the new project from a template that might have it set to MSP? Like urmas mentioned, add the field to one of the views/lists so you can verify/change it on the actual specific project.
Yup, the default only comes for new projects and only if it is not overridden with something else like from a template.
Depending on which value you have you get either
Yes! I had used a template. Once I created a project without the template I could open it in OWB. Thanks guys, you're the best!
And you can change the Scheduler Format for your projects and templates by adding the field to your project list view, ensure the Scheduler Format field is configured to be Editable. Then just click and update each one in the view and save.
