I need to change the web session timeout value from 10 to 20 mins and need to change the text in warning message before time out. please help to achieve this.
The web session timeout is set in the web.cfg file located in the bopcfg\www directory.
Look for the following section:
# Timeout specifies the maximum number of minutes a user's session can be
# inactive before it is cancelled and all resources released. After this
# period has elapsed, the user must start a new session by logging in again.
! Timeout 60
Since you mentioned yours is currently set at 10 minutes, then yours should already be uncommented and should be set to 10. So all you have to do is set it to 20 so it looks like this:
Now if you have an environment with multiple servers and multiple webengines, you may have multiple web.cfg files on each server, so be sure to make the change in ALL web.cfg files, including any that are named hostname_web.cfg as those may be in use as well.
You will then need to recycle services for that change to take.
Now for the question about the message in the session timeout popup, although this is not specifically supported, I believe this can be done by making a change to the msg_cat.js file. First, copy the msg_cat.js file from the bopcfg\www\wwwroot\scripts directory to the site\mods\www\wwwroot\scripts directory. Now edit the copy in the site\mods\www\wwwroot\scripts directory, locate the following lines:
__messages["Sorry,_your_session_has_alread"]="Sorry, your session has already timed out. Please login again";
__messages["Sorry,_your_session_has_timed_"]="Sorry, your session has timed out. %1";
__messages["Timeout_reset_-_your_session_w"]="Timeout reset - your session will continue until logout or %1 more minutes of inactivity";
__messages["WARNING:_Your_session_will_tim"]="WARNING: Your session will time out at %1\nPress OK before this time to extend the session, or Cancel to logout immediately";
You can edit the part in quotes - keep in mind there are some attributes in there to represent the actual time value that will be displayed - such as "%1n" - make sure you keep those there.
You can then save the file and recycle service desk to invoke the changes.
Again this is not something that is supported specifically, so we would not be able to assist or troubleshoot any problems that come up due to making that change.
Thanks Jon, Let me check this in my test environment.
