Error "Unable to get the TypeDef for 'Defect' for the following reasons...when trying to import Defects using Excel add-in

Question asked by amy.wendling@flatironssolutions.com on Jan 11, 2016
I am testing using the Excel add-in to import Defects into a Workspace. I have set up query for Defects utilizing the fields: Description, Name, Notes, Project, and Test Case (I'm unsure of the required fields for this type). I run the query and get the export. When I click to import, I get the following error dialog box:
Unable to get the TypeDef for 'Defect' for the following reason:
The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error
When I click ok, the Choose Import dialog box opens. If I click on Schema, I get:
Cannot show attribute schema for the following reason:
The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error
Similar messages when I click on Validate or Import.

Anyone had any luck using the add-in for Defects? Or does anyone have any ideas why I am getting the server error? Thanks!
