Executing SSIS Packages with a Windows Agent?

We finally got buy-in from the DBA's that they wanted to start using Automic for their jobs. I recently installed a SQL agent on one of the Windows servers in that tier and started thinking about if this was the right approach.. I was thinking that maybe I should install a Windows agent and have the agent execute the SSIS package on the server and monitor it for return codes which could dictate future actions..

Does anyone have experience with automating the execution of SSIS packages and verifying they worked correctly?
