assistant is required to create a new contact type same as Groups.
idea is to create new groups with different Type and publish in a specific field as whereclause.
done it thanks for the suggestions.
whereclause="type=1000 or (type=2308 and zcontact_num='100')"
What version of SDM are you trying to implement this new feature? what is the patch level?
I have verified in 14.1 version and noted that Contact type can be created from Administration - ServiceDesk - Application Data - Codes - Contact Types. Are you facing any issues in the process of creating the contact type?
Maheshwar, creating contact type is not an issue, i want to create contact type which works like Group
Although you can create more contact types, I don't think you can create one that will behave like contact type Group.
Are you trying to create something that will allow you to flag contacts as belonging to a particular collective of contacts? Do you need to say that a contact can belong to multiple collectives or just a single collective for this purpose?
thanks for the reply, yes i am looking to create a contact type which can work like group...
Can you provide details to what you are attempting to achieve? What does this proposed contact type provide that the current group contact does not?
i am looking for a contact type which can work like group.
actually my requirement is to display some groups in a specific custom field. for example
i've a custom field called Managers in detail_chg.htmpl.
now i want to show some specific groups in my custom field not all. as of now this field has a whereclause type=2308 but this displays all.
A new contact type which behaves exactly the same as the standard one in all circumstances is not possible.I do have several non adoptabel code parts in mind where the internal id of the standard group contact type is in use.
Specific behaviours in specific situations might be implementable . But these kind of implementations depends very much on your specific requirements .I have no generic approach in mind.Kind regards....Michael
why to not just add a new custom field such as Group type (or whatever you would like to be) to the group factory to determine those "special group" and then display it where you want using a where clause on the lookup
You then have the segregation you are looking for and keep all the functionality of the groups.
My 2 cents
thanks for the response.
actually i want to mix groups (new contact type) with an existing contact type..
let me elaborate:
1- i've a special contact type for Managers and is displaying properly in the field. via "whereclause= "type=10001"
2- i've special Contact_Num for groups "10"
can i mix contact type with contact_num in where clause? if yes please send syntax.
as of now i've "whereclause=type=10001 OR type=2308"
i want it as follow: "whereclayse=type=100001 or contact_num=10" (send me correct syntax)
I thought you already have the answer in your previous comment i.e. whereclase="type=10001 or contact_num='xzy'".
what are you trying to achieve now?
