I'm working with the Form editor within catalog and it behaves very slow or sometimes not at all. Selecting fields, re-draws, and saves are taking excessive time. Sometimes the updates in the field values won't save.
Working in Chrome
So when is that supposed to be out? Currently this thing is nearly unusable. How did this make it into production?
What specific version of Service Catalog are you working with?
Thanks for the details.
The Catalog Engineering team is currently working on the issue with the Catalog form editor performance.
The developed solution is anticipated to be included as part of the upcoming RU2 patch for 17.1 and will also be included in next 17.2 release.
CarolPiccus - do you have any update regarding CA SDM 17.1 RU#2 patch?
j.barger - We apologize for the problems that you are seeing in the Form Designer. As we have been working on this upcoming roll-up patch, there has been a focus on building out a more robust set of test cases and test data (basing this on data customers have shared with us) to help ensure that we effectively address the issues as well as to ensure better testing on this part of Catalog for future releases and patches.
The roll-up patch (17.1 RU2) is anticipated to be released before the end of December 2018. We will be sure to make an announcement in the Community as well as to send out notices as soon as it is available.
Reading between the lines here the general gist is that CA is employing the customer as the Testing platform?
It's not like other software companies are not doing it. Except for Blizzard but this is another story.
Anyway i did try the beta for RU2 and the form designer performances are way more acceptable. Be patient.
It's not my patience that is to worry about. Its the people that sign the checks to pay for this mess. At the very least they could have been hones labeled the whole thing "beta". My rant is over now. Thanks for listening.
I must agree that this was released way to early and it did not went throught enough testing.
Yep, I found another bug in it. Simple form validation seems to be broken in IE. Drop downs intermittently can be cleared out and the form will allow you to submit. It breaks all sorts of functionality later on down the line. The product itself is a mess and should never have been released in its current state.
We’ve encountered these bugs as well and have left our production instance of service catalog on 14.1, meanwhile service desk is running 17.1.01. Hoping that 17.2 resolved all the cases we’ve opened.
