Adding owner pointer into existing set

Has anyone used the restructure connect utility to add new owner pointer
into an existing set?
I tried to use the restructure utility to get a spill file with the new
pointers, but after completion the file is empty. The set is defined as
optional automatic and has only next and prior pointers.

Any idea?

Subject: IDMS R 14.0 and 16.0 - Oracle 9.2.0.6 J2EE Connection Products

Hi;

We are evaluating IDMS - Oracle with a J2EE using WebLogic connection
products and would appreciate any product suggestions.

We need :

1. To be able to listen for any changes (store, modify, delete) in
IDMS R 14.0 (soon to be R 16.0)

2. Through rules, transform, and format these changes (insert, update,
delete) for Oracle

3. Store the corresponding changes in Oracle (rels. 9.2.0.6)

And do the reverse: listening, mapping and transforming the Oracle 9.2.0.6
changes back to IDMS R14.0 now (going to R16.0 soon).

We also looked at iway Intelligent Adapter for CA-IDMS.
We looked at Neon Shadow and it doesn't appear to be able to do
2-phase commit.
We are looking at simulating 2-phase commit in WebLogic.
We heard about, but have not looked at Informatica ?Power Center.
We heard about, but have not looked at ?EDBC from Computer Associates.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Ted Wells

P.S. How well does CA support 2-phase commit against Oracle R 9.2.0.6 with
IDMS R14.0? IDMS R16.0?

ABEND 1473 AND SYSGEN PARMS
"i had this abend(max eru's).
has anyone a method to evaluate the correct value(that was not a rule of thumb) of this parms in sysgen ?

i modify my sysgen by
add number of external adress space accessing this central version(TP monitor(cics) + TSO).

it seems to me that i had, also, to review parm=max task = max erus +3 + driver. is it so ?

Finally : is this rule correct :
if max erus + max tasks + system task + master + dbrc + driver > 50 i had to reduce the total number by 50%

thanks.

New INDEX set - problems
"When I compiled a program, in the compile dump . under SETNAMES one
INDEXX set was shown.

But when I ran the program, it abended with 0069 ( at the MODIFY step;
OBTAIN step went thru fine ) and in the abend dump,
this set is NOT visible under SETNAMES.

Is there anything I have to specify in the run JCL to go and fetch the
correct Subschema ?

Now the DB structure is

SCDBOLD as schema and SSDBOLD as subschema is where I can run the
programs that update the database with the data required for new INDEX
sets
and this data will be available to access thru the new SET in all other
Schemas and subscemas

Thanks
Babija

Re: IDMS R 14.0 and 16.0 - Oracle 9.2.0.6 J2EE Connection Produ cts
"We have a government site here in South Australia that is doing an IDMS to
Oracle migration - and during the migration they are doing exactly what you
describe. You will want to do what they did which is to talk to Pat Roehl or
Tom Hebert at ObjEx - the URL for their web presence is: www.obj-ex.com

Can't help you with the 2 phase commit - but if you need it for the
replication you're describing then I wouldn't worry about it because 2 phase
commit support is not required for the ObjEx replication between IDMS and
Oracle.
