Deadlocks

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Oct 21, 2005
Hi All,

I have two questions....

1. When a task encounters a deadlock condition, does it ABEND immediatly or

does it use one of the system timers?

2. Is there a place which explains how to read the IDMS documentation CDs

(I'm trying 15.0 right now)? I am trying Library Reader, Softcopy Reader

and Adobe and none of them are working real well. I know I had it figured

out at one time, but that knowledge has escaped through the various holes in

my head.

Thanks.

High Speed Storage Protection Feature of Release 16.0 SP2
"Hello All:

Does anyone know if this feature will work on a Z-Architecture Machine that
is not running Z-OS Yet?

I have a release 16.0 SP2 Client that is still on the OS-390 Operating
System, they are planning to go to Z-OS but that may take a while and I would like
to put this feature in place now.

Also, anyone that has implemented this feature would you mind sending me
your DCMT DIS ALL STORAGE POOLS display?

Anyone have any experiences with Multitasking on 16.0 SP2, that is another
feature that I would like to implement. I have implemented this feature in
previous releases so I know how it works, I am just looking for experiences.

Thank You
Bill Allen

"Bill -

I can't speak on the storage protection feature.
However, multitasking works fine on 16.0 SP2.
If you decide to set unitasking on temporarily, make sure you have MT=N on
the startup parm.
Don't disable by setting SUBT=1.
This causes real nasty storage overlay problems unless you apply QO71588.

Take Care -
