NEON Systems Z/SERVER software for IDMS

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Dec 15, 2005
Hello All:

Is there anyone out there that has installed Neon Systems Z/SERVER Software
for CA-IDMS?

If so can you send me a number where to contact you directly for a few
installations questions?

Re: Strange New BCF Behavior - The Answer
"Thanks to everyone who responded to this one. Thanks especially to Tom Holden, who spurred me to look more closely at the DMCL I use for the reload. I had changed it to do some load area changes earlier this year and neglected to unchange it when I finished. Like the rest of you, sometimes I get to moving too fast on too many chores and pass myself on the inside lane. I truly appreciate having all you listers to go to for help.

Happy Holidays - all of them!

'0306' error in ADS application
"We are in the process of upgrading from R14.1 SP6 to R16 SP2. Our
developers are doing ADS application testing on an R16 CV, with data and
dictionaries copied from their regular test CV's.

Two large applications have tested out fine on the R16 CV. But third
one is getting an '0306' error (no currency established) on a CALC key
passed from one dialog to another. This error does not occur on their
regular test CV. Further research is needed to determine just where the
currency is being lost, but I thought I would try to rule some things
out first:

1) Although the dictionary and data are copied directly from the R14.1
CV, the R16 CV has its own system dictionary and catalog. So I am
wondering if I might have something wrong there. Does anyone know of a
SYSGEN setting that could cause this kind of error?

2) Or any R16 ""closed loopholes"" that could cause this kind of error?

Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] '0306' error in ADS application
"Kay - just a few things to check:

are all published and test fixes that you had applied for 14.1 verified as
either not having a 16.0 equivalent or are applied to the 16.0
environment?

check to see how the called dialog is being invoked - if could be that
there is a bug in the calling/returning mechanism, or that a intended
change was made but not publicized (or not well publicized)

also, is it possible that the 16 environment has a link level maximum
lower than what was in the 14.1 environment? (and you are hitting it?)

there was at one time a bug (that was addressed by a fix) that if you were
using different versions of a work record (although identically defined),
information would not be passed between the two -- this was fixed YEARS
ago (this may have been a 10.2 bug, certainly no more recent than 12.0,
but bugs do re-appear form time to time)

just a few points to ponder ..

Re: '0306' error in ADS application
"Kay,
This error could be the result of a dead-locking situation. What happens in some cases with ADSO, when a deadlock occurs, the ADSO run-unit terminates and then starts up again at the next IDMS command. Because the run-unit is terminated, all currency has been lost so when the next command executes it gets an ""06"" minor code. Check your log to see what else was runnning at the time the dialog abended. In the meantime, I'll try to find the place in the manual where it explains this better.

Re: '0306' error in ADS application
"We have encountered this problem when dialogs share a work record and one
dialog is using a different version than other. If you have ADSALIVE it is
easy to check the values in records after the first dialog passes control
to the second. You can also use DEBUG but I'm not familiar with how to use
it. Good luck.

Re: '0306' error in ADS application
"Hello Kay:

Make sure you have TF24477 and TF24501 applied to your 16.0 SP2 System. We
were also getting 0306 errors and tasks dead locking on themselves until these
fixes were applied.

"Kay,

This could be TF24477.

//* UPGRADE TO RELEASE 16.0 CAUSES DC173008 0306 ABENDS

//* Dialogs with DML commands that are dependent on
