V14 vs. V16 and CICS front ends

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Aug 8, 2006
A quick question for the list:

We're going from V14.1 to V16 (SP3, I think). I've got a CICS that
talks to two different CV's. I know that the V14 CICS interface will
not work with a 16 CV, but will a 16 front end talk to a 14 back end.
The real question is do I need to upgrade both CV's at once, or can I do
one at a time??

All thoughts greatly and gratefully appreciated.

VS: Bar Code READER for IDMS-DC
"Hi,
we have utilized bar code reader, which was connected between keyboard and pc, and got it's power from pc's keyboard connect.

It worked as keyboard - when cursor was in certain (ADS) map input field, user read the bar code with the reader and result was ""typed"" into that field. And rest of the input was typed from the keyboard, as usual. Of course even that one field could be typed manually, if necessary.

So this was just way to give input to map fields, ADS application was not affected at all.

Here's a request from an application developer - is anybody aware of
such a technology?

""Are you aware of any technology which would allow a barcode reader to
feed a barcode into IDMS (more specifically, via an ADS/O dialog)?""

If there is such a technology I wouldn't worry about the ADS/O part of
the query.

TIA - cheers - Gary

Pageable Maps
"Hello out there in IDMS-L land:

Problem:

Pageable map displays all 59 detail lines on a MOD2 terminal (8 pages of
7 lines and 1 of 3) but on a MOD4 it only displays 3 pages of 17 lines
each and no more. It's not the terminal emulator, I tried 2 different
ones in MOD2 and 4 (Extra! and Vista3270.) The map definition screen
has all Screen sizes checked.

The workaround is, of course, just use MOD2, but many people (me
included) like MOD4.

Any ideas why this would happen?
