Re:ADS question

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Dec 1, 2006
Hi:

I have an application that accesses a record in an area that is
sometimes offline for batch processing. I have tried to trap the 0966
that results from trying to CALC to that record so I can code around it
and keep our application up. I thought I could check the ERROR-STATUS
from a READY, but I have found that READY statements that are coded are
not actually executed until you execute a DML command, such as OBTAIN.
At least it appears that way when I ADS-Alive it.

Any ideas on how I can determine if an area is off-line before I try to
issue a DML command?

Thanks.

Database encryption for IDMS databases
"Hi all,
Our management read a security article by Gartner Group that
contained these lines:
Strategic Planning Assumption - By year-end 2007, failure to encrypt
credit card, Social Security and account numbers in databases will be
considered legal negligence and noncompliance with industry standards
(0.9 probability).
As a result, I have been tasked with looking at what options are
available for encrypting the data in our IDMS databases. A google
search for IDMS+encryption turned up nothing. I was going to search the
archives first, but it appears the IUA site is down, so I apologize if
this has been discussed already. I have to have a project proposal by
December 18.

Can anyone point me at encryption software, procedures for encrypting
data within an IDMS database, or sources that discuss IDMS data
encryption particularly pros/cons? Thanks for your help.

"Tried that Joe but it does not work for an 0966. The link to RHDCMT00 is
the only way I could get this to work.
