"there is 2 listserv options of note: repro and ack (there are global
defaults, but each subscriber can alter)

repro (norepro?) determines if you get a copy if the message
ack/(noack?) determines if you get notification that the email was sent

and no - i have not gone to the CA website - i was hoping someone could
supply a bookmanager name before i jumped into the CA site

Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] Programming question
"Chris, I take it you ""can not go to CA's web supportconnect site or you have not"", for you could get that information from that point of view and be able to get to the manual you want and download it.

P.S. When I send an email to the IDMS Public Discussion, why doesn't this email come back to me once it is delivered to the Forum of users. Unless I ""CC' or ""BC"" my message when I send it out, I'm blind to what I sent out. Any parameter I can set to have this done automatically, I've lived with this for many many years of using the forum I never thought to ask. I don't know if my message was delivered unless I get a response back from the community or the person the email was directed to. For example my question on Salary Survey did bring many out, so I know this got through. And on other questions I've gotten an email back or a phone call.

Re: IDMS-L Digest - 19 Oct 2007 to 20 Oct 2007 (#2007-192)
"No, I do work on both IDMS & DB2, I'm the one and only technical support for IDMS (we have 5 other application DBA's for IDMS) and I'm one with 2 other technical for DB2 (4 other application DB2 DBA's).
My primary time is spent with IDMS, we push 642 million calls through 4 of our larger production IDMS CV's per average day and about 90 million through our DEV/UAT CV's. We have 9 production IDMS CVs and 12 Dev/UAT CV's and support over 300 developers for IDMS, so I do stay busy doing IDMS work with DB2 once in a while to fill in the time gaps I may have. P.S. our DB2 does over 1.75 billion per day. We also have within our shop Oracle, SQl server with number perhaps exceeding these. As far as IDMS our group meet once a week very seldom do I not come out of the meeting without extra work to put on my to-do list. My to-do list seems to keep getting longer and longer with things I would like to do but don't have time for. So Chris, Yes a shop can keep a DBA busy with JUST IDMS work. Besides, IDMS is still a work horse for the amount of work it can do with the SYSTEM resources available to it, and our management does realize that.

Yes there are. Some IDMS DBAs are rumored to want to retire without
having to work much with inferior software and consider the personal
satisfaction that it gives them more important than material gains.
This same group is rumored to be un-interested in working on toy
computers, same deal there as DB-zero.

DBA's

WOW - are there shops were folks ONLY do IDMS DBA work? 5 years ago, I
sa= w the ""writing on the wall"" and attempted to learn DB2 - it has paid
off we= ll for me ($$$$) - we just completed an upgrade to V8 (20+
subsystems) and N= O outages due to the upgrade; 2 jobs experienced
longer run times due to changed access path - in fact, just today i got
a bonus ($$$$) for the error-free implementation
