Re:New 16 Hypers QO94232/3

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Feb 19, 2008
Hi,

There are new hyper apars QO94232/3 that talk about sequence errors in
the journals. Anybody seen this problem and can shed more light on the
situation that causes the problem?

Thanks

Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] odd problem .....
"well - i verified that I was in the correct system - but i went to IDD
and displayed the programs - lo and behold they were not in the correct
system - so i deleted the three programs from system 62 (if they were not
there how could i display or delete them from the sysgen editor ???) and
re-added them - now IDD shows them as being connected to both systems
(staging and live)

tomorrow will tell if they come up defined to the system .....

IDMS Perforance vs Oracle
"Just an FYI.

From an article in eWeek.com ""Columnar Databases Gain Ground in
Enterprises"" By Brian Prince, 2008-02-14 - last paragraph:

""To Noel, the database industry has reached a point where it can have
different database structures living side by side in the market.

""I was just talking to a DBA who now has SQL programmers querying IDMS
through JDBC/ODBC drivers the same way as they do their Oracle
databases. But with specific types of queries IDMS performance is so
much better,"" she said. ""So I see these column databases in the same
way-a structure that can give you better performance in specific
circumstances-and you don't need to learn a new query language to take
advantage of it.""

Please notice the IDMS performance reference. You'll need to read the
entire article for column database description.

Re: New 16 Hypers QO94232/3
"Thanks Wesley.

It is good to know that it has nothing to do with QO88564. So will
someone from CA tell us what circumstances cause the journal sequence
error?

Thanks

Chris
