but this methodology also implay that the two datasets (and segment
definitions ) must remain sized identically or else the dataset copy
would
either fail or produce unprediciable results

Do you just need a copy of the database for use under a different CV so
they can work on converting it a SQL server? That can be done easily
enough. So what are you really trying to accomplish with this?
