Re: [IDMS-L] IDMS Server

The important thing to remember about Server is that there are ""2 ends"" -
the JDBC/ODBC/other client end and the mainframe server end. You can make
your life a whole lot more simpler and the run-time environment a whole
lot more efficient by implementing the server end with a generic TCP
listener and the SQL server task provided by CA. At the client end much
training can be bypassed if you have people who have been coding
Oracle/similar from Java (for example) - biggest change is the ""connection
string"" if that's hard coded, or in the configuration of CA's JDBC driver.
I have provided a DCMT display of our generic driver PTERM on the TCP line
for IDMS Server. We have built up a document with a number of FAQ's that
CA has answered for us over the years - I'll check with CA to see if they
are happy for us to ""publish"" their collated replies.

HTH - cheers - Gary
