Re:ADS question

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Mar 1, 2010
(From a non-ADS programmer.) Is it possible to do ""GET STORAGE"" and ""PUT S=
TORAGE"" commands in ADS code? I don't see them in the ADS reference guide.

Re: ADS question
"My experience is that the need for large tables has to do with searches, totalling, sub-totalling and other such functions. These functions, and more are provided by SQL. Have you considered defining a temporary Table in SQL - you can then process it using SQL with the full functionality available to SQL - then ""throw the table away""! This puts the onus of Scratch and Storage management on to SQL - and lets you use an industry standard language to do the processing. The Table could be used from either ADS and/or Cobol.
