Separate DMCL for Log and Journal Jobs

Ever since I transitioned from Applications to Systems 15 years ago, my sho=
p has used a stripped down version of our DMCL for Log and Journal jobs. I=
n moving to R17 we are considering using the CV's DMCL for these functions.=
In asking around, it seems that using separate DMCLs was due to an event =
where a DBA got the CV's DMCL fouled up and we couldn't offload logs or jou=
rnals while the mess was straightened out. We now keep multiple generation=
s of the linked modules, so we can recover pretty quickly. Do any of y'all=
run your logs and journals on separate DMCLs, and are there any other reas=
ons for doing so?

Thanks...Jerry

Re: Separate DMCL for Log and Journal Jobs
"Jerry,

We have never used separate DMCL's for log or journal jobs.

We do have special ""local mode"" DMCL's with extra-large buffers and scratch areas. Also ""index-building"" DMCL's with special IBC values, displacements, and page reserves.
