Error on Areas in DB

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on May 11, 2010
Hello, I am an application developer not a DBA. The DBA is on vacation
for
the next 2 weeks and I need some help.

She gave me some jcl to restore our test db. So I ran it, however it did
not
have a step to vary the areas offline first and I did not vary them
offline.
I ran a job to unlock the areas but it says the areas are not locked.
So I
went to the enter next task code prompt and tried to vary the segment
(contains the areas) offline. I get this error for each area: 3018
Error
Closing AREA IDZSGDAT.IAFAR007-REGION. I am not sure what to do next
and
any help would be greatly appreciated since the DBA won't be back until
May
24th.

"I think the DISK TTR of these database datasets is different after your
restore from what the CV has recorded in memory . . .

And the UNLOCK when it wasn't locked may have confused IDMS.
IF you cycle the IDMS it might all be well again...

If not, just vary the areas off, if they will go (if not, shutdown the
cv again) and restore the areas again, then vary back online (or restart
the cv).

That should do it.
