Re:User Security.

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Sep 9, 2010
Hi all,

Are clauses like:

ACCESS TO SYSTEM DCSYSTEM VERSION IS 10
PRIORITY IS 240
SECURITY CLASSES ( 1 )

Still used by DC/UCF? Anything other than the priority?

While reviewing our user specifications, I found a number of people from
one particular site with the above clause in their USER definition. I
can't find any reference to a security class of 1.

I know what they used to be used for, but am not sure if it's valid for
anything other than compatibility.

TIA,

Dick

Hi. The CMUG user group meeting will be held next
Wednesday, Sept. 15, and you're all invited! If you're in the Chicago
area then please let us know if you'd like to attend the meeting in
person. If you can't attend in person then you can still attend the
meeting over the Internet through Live Meeting.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 8:30 AM and goes
until 2 PM. The first part of the meeting will be the CMUG business
meeting. Next we'll have a ""Status & Plans"" session to hear some of the
latest IDMS information. And then we'll have a training session. Due
to scheduling conflicts we'll only be having 1 track of training, not 2.
We'll have more details about that training shortly.

=20

If you would like to attend this meeting in person,
please let us know so we'll know how many lunches to prepare. If you
would like to attend through Live Meeting then please send me your
e-mail address and I'll send you a link for the Live Meeting session.
My e-mail address is glen.guenther@acxiom.com.

Subject: CMUG meeting annoucement

The IDMS CMUG (Chicago Midwest User Group) is planning
on having a User Group meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010. CA is
letting us have the meeting in their Lisle office and they've
volunteered to broadcast the meeting through Live Meeting. Our plans
are to have a CMUG business meeting first and then to break into 2
tracks, a Systems track and an Application Track. Each track would have
a ""Status & Plans"" session with details tailored for that track and then
an additional training session of some type.

We would very much like to hear from any CMUG members as
to what topics would interest them. At the same time, since our
meetings are going to be broadcast over Live Meeting, everyone is
welcome to watch these sessions and we'd be glad to consider suggestions
from non-CMUG members as to what others would like to see, too.

Some suggestions of topics for the Systems track would
be:

* IDMS Concepts

* Navigation

* IDMS & ZIP processors

* Performance & Tuning

* Best Practices

Some suggestions of topics for the Applications track
would be:

* Basic ADS

* Basic Navigation

* SQL Option

* Visual DBA (changes are coming in V18 which will make this a lot more
useful to applications people)

Obviously these will be condensed versions of these topics and we'll
only have time for 1 topic per track (plus the ""Status & Plans"" topic at
the beginning) but if anyone has suggestions of what would interest
them, please let us know.

If you're a CMUG member and/or you would like to attend
the meeting in Lisle then please let us know because CA will also be
providing lunch for us and will need a headcount. If you would be
interested in watching the Live Meeting sessions then please let us know
because we'd like to know have many people will be watching. And we'd
like to know how many people (both physically and through Live Meeting)
are interested in each track. Locally that would make a difference as
to which room will be used for which sessions in the Lisle offices.

Thanks,

Glen Guenther

Re: How to stop message from going to operators' console?
"Kay,

We did a similar thing for DC203005 via the WTOEXIT. Most of the IDMS JES log was DC203005 messages, and as our CVs were up for 3 months at a time the log was getting unmanageable.

As there are 3 DC203005's issued for each rolled back task, we suppress the last two, and just let the first one (with the program name etc in) through to the console.

For each set of DC203005's, if it's the first one, WTOEXIT finishes RC0 so the message appears on the console. For the last two, it finishes RC4, so they don't.

Don't see why this can't be done for DC201006.

-----Original Message-----

I changed dictionary messages DC201006 and DC203005 to go to
the log only. The default was log and operator. But they
are still appearing on the operators' console. Do I need to
change something else also?

question on QUED
"i have a very active read-only CV - however it does update Queues (being
r/o journals are very small)

although several applications have been subset - the jobs that write to
these queues are still active- so i execute QUED prompt
I note then when a journal fills and the info message is written

rhdcrual is the program - interestingly - even though i exit qued -
condensing does not free up the journal space

is this because a pre-defined (RHDCRUAL) run unit is considered still
active and as such the BFORS cannot be removed?
