Re:Question on ZOS utility

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Nov 4, 2010
Can I use the following utility to move an IDMS dataset from one spindle
to another? I have used it for IMS & DB2 datasets on occasion when a
dataset had to be moved.

** THIS IS THE COPY **

//DNXA EXEC PGM=ADRDSSU,REGION=4096K
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//BCKUP1 DD DSN=TAPE DATASET NAME,
// DISP=(NEW,CATLG,DELETE),
// UNIT=TAPEC,VOL=(,,,,9),RETPD=0015
//SYSIN DD *
DUMP OUTDD(BCKUP1) OPTIMIZE(3) ALLX SHR -
DATASET(INCLUDE(DATASET NAME.**))

** THIS IS THE RESTORE

//DBRES EXEC PGM=ADRDSSU,REGION=4096K
//DASD1 DD UNIT=3390,VOL=SER=VVVVVV,DISP=OLD
//TAPE1 DD DSN=TAPE DATASET NAME,
// DISP=OLD,UNIT=TAPEC
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN DD *
RESTORE ODD(DASD1) INDD(TAPE1) -
DATASET(INCLUDE(DATASET.NAME.**)) -
RENAMEU -
((DATASET CLUSTER ...., -
DATASET DATA .....))

Thanks

"AKA DFDSS, yup certainly can use it to move IDMS datasets. During Y2K work I used it often. Never had a problem of any kind with it.
