Replacing the "null" string in a delimited file

I've written a gel script that executes a sql query, creates a pipe delimited text file and writes the file to a shared drive.

Within the output of the text file, null values are being stored as the string "null" instead of a blank, which is how they are processed if exported out of a sql editor such as Toad.

I've run across the <util:replace> tag as a potential solution. I'm not confident this is the best option. The tedious solution would entail adding nvl() to each field, which will be rather time consuming due to the size of the query.

Is there a quick and easy way to do this in the gel script without revisiting the core sql query?

Thanks in advance.
