System Errors with Personal Dashboard 12.0.6

After upgrading to 12 SP6, when we try to create a portlet using an out of the box provider (i.e. Team Allocations) and put it in a custom dashboard, we get the dreaded System Error. Contact System Administrator error.

I have a case open with support on this, but it is taking a long time for them to make any progress on this and was wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior. If we put custom built portlets in the dashboard the dashboard appears fine, it is only when we try to create a new portlet using a stock provider that we see the error and it doesn't matter what user is logged in - even the admin account.
